Mangalore.. I honestly dont know whats it called.. and its just a simple example of out 324 people per square kilometer population. Really, I dont understand how people can live one person or two persons in one km.. it would be quite motonous and boring. Posted by Picasa

This is a common sentiment we all felt when Mangalore was "bandh" and we were shut down inside our homes.
Ever wondered how does it feel like when your own living quarters become prison? Welcome to A Curfewed city! For five days we were not allowed to go out side the hostel and for five days we suffered. The food supply started dwindling and for those of us who love outdoors than insides, claustrophobia set in. The walls seemed to shrink and we ran out of gossip and humor as there was'nt even the scope to look out. Now all is normal but for those of us not communally sensitive its time we realise there are issues bigger than us on the horizan that need immidiate focus. We cant cant live on like this and we cant take even a basic fundamental simplistic entity as freedom for granted!

YAKSHAGANA-the song of Demi Gods.. Yakshagana is mainly assumed to be inspired by the Kathakali dance form of the Indian State of Kerala. There are two types on Yakshagana, Tenkutiitu and Badagn tittu. To an untrained eye the difference may only be minute. While Tenkutittu is a fast paced, high pitched performane, Badagntittu is more sutle and less emphatic, and both of them carry enigmatic beauty assciated with theatre and ballad.
The performance by the Mangalore University Students, is known as " Sudershanvijjaya" - victory of Sudershan..

The act opens with Laxmi, the goddess of weath praising her husband, Sri Hari for all the great deeds he has done on earth.

He is the vanquisher of all the evil, he is humble and kind and he is preserver of rightous and good (not to miss the coke bottle by his side).

This infurietes the Lord's weapon, Sudershan. Sudershan believes that the Great God Sri Hari cannot be any thing with out his support or help. It was he, Sudershan, who killed the evil demons.
Laxmi gets agitated at this remark but the Lord calms her down and patronises Sudarshan' s pride.

Meanwhile, the Heaven is attacked by the Demon king, Shatrupasudana.

The demi-gods wage a brave battle but lose because Shatrupasudana is blessed with a boon. He can only be killed with a weapon that can take human form. Thus, the gods approach Great Lord Sri Hari and request him to vanquish Shatruprasudana, Lord obliges but not without Sudarshan. With the help of Sudarshan, Sri Hari slays Shatrupasudana, but this elevates the pride in Sudarshan and pride comes only before fall.

When Sudarshan crosses his limits, Lord's wrath falls upon him and he is cursed to be reborn as Human on the earth, this makes Sudershan realise that nothing is above the God and he pleads for forgivness. Alas! whats done cannot be undone. The irony remains in the title "Sudarshanvijjaya"....
